We are delighted to announce the winners of this year’s Morecambe Festival poetry competition, as chosen by our judge John Hegley, assisted by Rachel Pantechnicon and Francesca Beard.
The competition was open to poems on any theme, and we received a huge number of poems from across the UK and around the world.
The winners.
1st prize: Badger in the shopping mall Paul McDonald
Paul said, “I’m thrilled to win the Morecambe Poetry Competition. It’s nice to get acknowledgement of any kind as a poet, but a prestigious prize win of this kind is a tremendous confidence booster, particularly when judged by a poet I’ve admired all my writing life.”
