‘Poets, Prattlers, and Pandemonialists’ is a collective of Black Country poets, writers and performers who are passionate about our region, and about the ability of the arts to enrich and transform people’s lives. We have individually won prizes for our poetry, collectively had our first Edinburgh show nominated for a Saboteur Award, and enjoy taking poetry, theatre, and performance into places where it’s not normally found.
Since we formed in 2017, we have managed highly successful projects funded by Arts Council England, Creative Black Country, and National Lottery Heritage Fund, running them to budget and on time. Each year, we book and curate a range of poetry events for Wolverhampton Literature Festival.
Our monthly online poetry night, Yes We Cant, recently celebrated its seventh birthday with a feature set from Black Country legend Liz Berry. We also put on a regular open mic night, PASTA, at the Arena Theatre in Wolverhampton, and work with other Black Country artists wherever possible, to give their diverse and distinctive voices a platform. When we’re not busy with all of that, we find time to perform our own work at poetry events and festivals around the UK.
